How demons can affect a believer? When casting out demons we must have an idea on the ways that demons can affect a believer as well as a non-believer. The following are ways the demons can affect a believer:
Thought life: A believer must learn how to protect the mind. The enemy’s number one area of attack is the the mind. The demons will put negative or even perverse thoughts on your mind to make you believe that they are your thoughts. Do not accept these thoughts. Learn to Bind the thoughts in the name of Jesus. The Word of God in Matthew 18:18 says whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. This technique must be practiced to become perfected. The demons know who has authority and who does not. You must be built up on your most holy faith by devouring the Word of God on a daily basis.
The tongue (words that we speak). In the book of James the Word of God says that the tongue is a fire a world of iniquity and cannot be tamed by man. The words that we speak are so very important. Jesus even said that we shall give account for every idle word that we speak. The words that we speak can and will attract demons to us. For instance, if we constantly are saying “I feel sick or I have a headache”, the demons will pick up on those words and come to enforce them on us. The realization to the believer is that words are a medium of prayer and victory, however, they can also be a medium of defeat to the believer. The believer must learn to put a guard on the mouth concerning the words that are spoken.
Sexual realms: This is another major area that must be considered as a believer. This is especially true since the popularity of the internet. The internet allows the viewer privacy while viewing. This privacy can cause some believers to stray off and view things that they are not suppose to. This is just one way of getting ensnared into sexual sin. Another area that believers do not guard in regards to sex is their own private sex lives with their partner in marriage. Even though a couple is married, the bounds of sex are not unlimited. The Christian married couple must still practice holiness in their sex lives to keep demons at bay. The enemy will take every opportunity to attempt to pervert the holiness of the act.
Addictions: Christians can be laden with all sorts of addiction. These include: alcohol, cigarettes, food, sexual, masturbation just to add a few. These addictions must be dealt with on a spiritual level. Some Christians try to stop one addiction and then they end up starting another. Casting out demons is the only way to get rid of these demons that drive the person to do these things in the first place. Psychiatry and drugs will only pacify the problem, the real solution is to drive the demons away so that the person can get built up in the Word and in there faith. A Christian who is playing Christianity or is not serious about getting rid of these driving demons will remain in torment and will not be able to serve the Lord.
