Bodily Resurrection of Jesus

By Pastor Dennis Williams

In the New Testament, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a key theme. It confirms Jesus Christ’s divinity, seals God’s approval on his words and deeds during his mission, and prepares Christians for the coming resurrection.

Jesus Christ’s resurrection was foreshadowed in the OT
In Abraham and Isaac: Ge 22:5; Heb 11:19
In Jonah: Jonah 1:17; 2:10; Mt 12:40

Jesus Christ’s resurrection was predicted

It was announced by angels Mt 28:5-6 pp Mk 16:5-6 pp Lk 24:4-6 Also see: Lk 24:23; 1Ti 3:16

The disciples were reluctant to believe it Lk 24:25-26 Also see: Mk 16:13-14; Lk 24:11; Jn 20:24-25

The disciples saw the evidence and were ultimately convinced Jn 2:22 Also see: Lk 24:33-35; Jn 20:8,18,26-28; Ac 2:32; 3:15; 4:33

The risen Christ appeared to many people Ac 1:3

Father in heaven, I believe you raised Jesus from the dead.
Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Please forgive me of all my sins. Come into my heart and life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Please, help me live for you and tell others about you for the rest of my life. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
